Taxi to Mirabel Airport (YMX): 24/7 transport for workers

No passenger flights at YMX since 2004 — but Airbus (A220), Bell Textron and 24/7 air cargo employ thousands on site. Typical taxi trips from Sainte-Thérèse, Blainville, Boisbriand and Laval, with indicative CTQ fares.

Montréal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX) hasn't welcomed a passenger flight since 2004 — yet its industrial site runs day and night: Airbus A220 assembly, Bell Textron helicopters and a major 24/7 air-cargo hub. So how does a worker get there for a 5am shift start, or home after a 3am shift end? There is no direct public transit link to the site: a 24/7 taxi remains the most reliable option. Taxi Chomedey serves YMX from Laval, Sainte-Thérèse, Blainville, Boisbriand and all neighboring cities — call 514-239-6512.

YMX in 2026: an aerospace hub, not a passenger airport

Inaugurated in 1975 after one of the largest agricultural expropriations in Quebec history, Mirabel Airport closed its commercial passenger flights in 2004. Its vast site didn't sit idle: Airbus assembles the A220 there (the program has belonged to Airbus since 2018), Bell Textron delivered its 6,000th commercial helicopter in May 2025, and the platform operates as a 24/7 air-cargo hub.

The upshot: thousands of people work on and around the site, often in shifts — very early starts, evening and middle-of-the-night shift endings, weekends included.

The shift problem: no direct public transit link

The exo commuter train (Saint-Jérôme line) does serve the Sainte-Thérèse, Blainville and Rosemère stations — but the YMX site sprawls over several kilometers far from those stations, and there is no direct, frequent link to the facilities (plants, cargo terminals). Add shift endings at 11pm or 3am when trains barely run, plus Laurentian winters, and driving becomes the default. Assuming you're not too tired to drive…

  • Shift ends at 11pm or 3am: a taxi drops you at your door — no walk to a frozen parking spot
  • Shift starts at 5am or 6am: a taxi booked the night before arrives on time, no depending on a rideshare that cancels
  • Car sitting in the lot all winter night: dead battery at pickup? We also do battery boosts on site
  • No car of your own? Door-to-door taxi remains the only practical option from most neighboring cities

Typical trips to YMX and indicative fares

The fare is the official CTQ meter ($4.10 pickup + $1.05 levy + $2.05/km daytime; higher night rates after 11pm). Indicative examples:

DepartureApprox. road distanceCTQ meter day (5am–11pm)Night (11pm–5am)
Sainte-Thérèse (downtown)≈ 20 km$47$53
Blainville (Labelle Blvd)≈ 17 km$40$46
Boisbriand (Faubourg)≈ 18 km$43$49
Laval (Chomedey)≈ 30 km$67$77
Give your employer or gate number

The YMX site is huge and the facilities (Airbus, Bell, cargo terminals) have separate entrances. By giving your building or employer when booking, your driver drops you at the right door — no detours.

Flying somewhere? That's YUL, not YMX

Watch out for the classic mix-up: YMX (Mirabel) no longer handles any passenger flights. If you're traveling, you want Montréal-Trudeau Airport (YUL) in Dorval. Our YUL airport transport service offers a fixed price aligned with UberX, with live flight tracking for delays.

Frequently asked

Are there passenger flights at Mirabel Airport (YMX)?+

No. Commercial passenger flights ended in 2004. YMX is now dedicated to 24/7 air cargo and aerospace assembly (Airbus A220, Bell Textron). For passenger flights, use Montréal-Trudeau Airport (YUL).

How much is a taxi from Sainte-Thérèse to Mirabel Airport?+

About $47 daytime and $53 night for ≈ 20 km on the CTQ meter (indicative). From Blainville (≈ 17 km), expect $40 day and $46 night.

Can the taxi drop me right at my plant (Airbus, Bell, cargo)?+

Yes. Just give your employer or building when booking — the site is vast with separate entrances, and your driver will drop you at the right door.

Do you run at night and for shift endings (11pm, 3am)?+

Yes, 24/7. After 11pm the CTQ night rate applies (about 15% more than day) — the same official meter as daytime, no surprises.

Is there a bus or train directly to YMX?+

No direct, frequent link exists. The exo Saint-Jérôme line serves Sainte-Thérèse and Blainville, but the airport site is several kilometers from those stations — you complete the trip by taxi.
